NO KINGS DAY WAS ONE OF THE LARGEST SINGLE-DAY PROTESTS IN AMERICAN HISTORY.

And we were a part of it. Marching for equality as part of the Swiss-wide Feministischer Streik, and in solidarity with Americans standing up to would-be dictators, we drew eyes and voices in support of our message.

There were many moments of solidarity: Swiss marchers who voiced their support after asking what our signs were about. A Swiss-German man who showed up to join us, because “my ancestors made this mistake in the 1930s, and I don’t want to see it repeated.” An American woman who didn’t know if other Americans were planning to be there, but showed up solo with a “No Kings” sign because she couldn’t stay home on a day like this.

It’s easy to see that so many people—Americans, Swiss, and many others—want to do what they can to help America escape the authoritarian path it is currently on.

So, where do we go from here?

Some folks in our community are organizing a weekly vigil in Zürich Altstadt—a high-visibility locale to broadcast that we are not OK with what’s happening? Stay tuned to find out more.

Movements like ours are powered by the people who make them up. Spread the word, reach out, and help us take our next steps to speak out here in Switzerland for safeguarding democracy in America.
