KICKOFF TOWN HALL

On May 6, more than two dozen of us gathered in Zürich for our first town hall event. We began with a Q&A on the state of American democracy, how we got here, and what might be coming next, hosted by Apolonio Huerta and featuring Professor Jonathan Slapin, followed by a moving and inspiring talk by Sasha of the Swiss Ukrainian Society.

We then took part in a collective workshop to share our motivations and values, and to brainstorm what concrete actions we can take as a group to protect and defend democracy in America.

We are just starting this organizing work. As a first step, and to help us steer our future actions, we’ve incorporated that discussion into a draft charter, and are seeking your feedback here before May 18.

As we finalize our statement of who we are and our goals, we’ll also begin organizing activities to protect democracy in the USA. To do this work, we need your help, whether that’s helping identify allies, organizing events, or telling your friends about this effort. To take part, join our Signal group chat. (You can download Signal Messenger for your phone or desktop here.)

Thank you all for your participation, and for those who could not attend, we hope to meet you face-to-face at the next opportunity.
